Kim was the epitome of a strong, confident woman who earned her MBA, raised three children, shattered glass ceilings, but also mowed the lawn and ran marathons.
Kim Marie O’Brien DiNicola of Malvern, Pennsylvania passed away at age 59 on October 18, 2021, surrounded by her adoring family.
While attending Great Valley High School, Kim was a member of the 1979 state championship field hockey team and received a full scholarship for her incredible athletic talents.
Kim went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in education from St. Joseph’s University and her MBA from Penn State University.
She was a dedicated team member at Vanguard for over 20 years.
Kim will be remembered most for her extraordinarily positive attitude, never-ending energy and constant smile. She was the epitome of a strong, confident woman who earned her MBA, raised three children, shattered glass ceilings, but also mowed the lawn and ran marathons.
Some of her greatest pleasures in life included cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles and Notre Dame Fighting Irish; escaping to the shore with her husband, even in winter; traveling to Wildwood, New Orleans, Paris, and Disney World with her closest “women who wine” friends; hosting parties at her home, especially to celebrate her children’s birthdays on Flag Day, the Fourth of July, and Christmas Day; and all the sports and outdoor adventures she could try, including skiing, running, biking, and kayaking. Kim was also a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Church of Malvern.
Kim is survived by her soulmate, husband Robert DiNicola; children Kevin (Amanda) Fleming, Ryan Fleming, and Rebekah (Hamza Rachdi) Fleming; parents Joseph O’Brien Sr. and Helen O’Brien; siblings Sharon O’Brien and Joseph (Julie) O’Brien; and beloved pets Cassie and Viper.
